BSides Knoxville: Malicious Links, Student Hackers, and a Handful of Solutions

Session Description: This presentation covers significant cyber threats facing educational institutions. Schools are prime targets due to their valuable data, lack of stringent regulations, and ownership of robust infrastructure that can be used to launch additional attacks from. In the session we’ll look at insider threats, including attacks from students, as well as phishing attacks from external attackers. The presentation will also include a demo of MFA bypass attacks that will showcase the importance of strong authentication methods. But don't fret - it's not all fear, uncertainty, and doubt! The session will also include steps that can be taken by users and administrators to reduce their risk.
